Bonding is a composite resin (tooth colored) filling material placed in the back teeth to fill cavities, as well as the front teeth. A composite filling is tooth colored, mercury free, metal free and bonds to the tooth and strengthen the tooth by restoring its original shape. Restorations with composite material require less removal of tooth structure than those with amalgams (silver fillings) as the material is hardened by chemically activating by laser light photons.
